I haven’t really been keeping a sketchbook during this FMP, i’ve found it easier to work on loose sheets and just be more practically experimental as opposed to designing things meticulously the way i did for the Alice in Wonderland scenes. Instead i have been brainstorming ideas through written communication and then making props based on these ideas. I’ve also used this book to think about other aspects of my FMP such as brainstorming printing ideas, potential scenes which may or may not get used and other peoples approaches to them.
ive found brainstorming more useful than design work at this stage, because it allows me to just be experimental when i get into the studio and begin making props.ive been able to be critical of my own thoughts in this book though becaue i find when i’m typing il go back and correct myself, but in this book i have made mistakes and later gone back and acknowledged why they are mistakes and this is a useful growth process. I can now go back again and be critical of my ideas and see how they have changed as the project progresses.
